We held a snowglobe cake topper workshop.

we discussed what type of cake decorating classes we would like to have in the Denton area, instead of travelling to Cake Carousel or other cake shops.

This month was a workshop making a fathers day tool box cake. 8 mini tool boxes where made and they all looked great. Pictures can be found on our facebook page, denton cake club.

This months demonstration was how to make graduation caps using cake and also how to make a small graduation owl with 2 cupcakes. Picture to follow soon.
April 2011,
The demonstration was how to carve a tapered cake and cover it with fondant. This was our first meeting at Confetti Cupcake cafe. It was a great location, we had a great turnout of 13 members with 2 new members joining.

This meeting we had a workshop where we all made fondant cat cake toppers. You can see pictures on our face book pages

reviewed the Wilton Cake Pops book and Bakerellas Cake Pops book, Took a look at the Cake Boss software for keeping order organized and priced correctly.
December 2010, Cancelled due to no power at the meeting place.
November 2010
A small group of us met and made royal icing mums.
The middle mum is the size typically made in the Wilton Classes, but we made ours really big, just like they should be.
October 2010
The demo was carving a cake into a pumkins, covering in fondant and then airbrushing the details.
September 2010
Our demo was how to do a frozen buttercream transfer (FBT). Dana did a lovely demonstration on how to outline, filling in and apply to a cake.
July 2010.
Patricia did a demonstration /workshop on how to use crimpers. Points to remember when crimping are
Crimping must be done on fresh fondant before it seals.
Fondant needs to be rolled slightly thicker then normal.
Keep the rest of the cake covered with plastic wrap if crimping around a whole cake or cake board.
Remember to adjust the band to keep the crimpers at an even dstance,
Insert crimper into fondant, pinch, release then lift crimper off.

Every December we do a cookie exchange for those members who wish to participate.
The workshop was making fondant penquins and How to make a sugar igloo that lights up.

This months demonstration was done by Selina. She stacked and carved several cakes to make a turkey cake fit for Thanksgiving. Full step by step photos can be see on our Face Book pages.

The workshop was making Christmas ornament cupcakes and we also had a cookie exchange.

Barbara Hawkins demonstrated fondant figure modeling. Barbara recommends using clay scuplting books for additional techniques in learning how to model.
